
This monastery was destroyed several times in 1294 and 1623, by pirates and during the religious wars, after what the monks left gradually the Ré Island.
The west front, painted in black and whiten was used like a beacon by the navy, for many years.

Classified as an “historic monument” in 1987, this exceptional site was the place for many archaeological excavations and restoration proceedind.
You can visit freely or with a guide, the remains of the garden wall, the chapel, the cloister, and the refectory.
